Construction was started Wednesday on a local branch office of Coburn Co. of Lafayette and Beaumont, Tex., a firm dealing in wholesale selling of plumbing and heating and air conditioning supplies, Arthur Maloney (right) of Lafayette, president, and C.L. Balcom of Beaumont, vice-president, look over the site where all the metal building on W. Grolee St. is being erected. The firm will be ready to operate in 30 days. Coburn Co. was founded in 1934 by Albert Coburn of Beaumont. It operates branches in New Iberia, Houma, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Port Arthur, Tyler and Beaumont, where the home office is located. Easton Faul of Lafayette will move to Opelousas to become manager of the Opelousas branch. The local firm will be staffed by three employees.
