Sales of Goods on the Rise



Houma just keeps on shopping.

In fact, more goods were sold in Terrebonne Parish this April than in any month in the past five years, according to the parish Tax Assessor’s Office.

Fueled by a nearly 150 percent surge in the sale of construction-related materials, Terrebonne Parish businesses made over $280 million in sales in April. That is up 87 percent from the same month in 2013.

Suppliers like Coburn Supply Co. in Houma, which sells construction supplies to home builders, commercial contractors and oilfield manufacturers, are vying to keep up with the new business.
